Facebook: Or, How to Lose a Weekend
Oh My!
My friend Eva turned me on to Facebook and now I’ve spent my entire weekend making “friends,” creating a Page for Nancy Tierney & The Boys, and ignoring the fact I need to be organizing all my music before I go back to work tomorrow.
I was avoiding Facebook and MySpace for this very reason: I like wasting time on the internet. All that clicking and typing and viewing. It’s mesmerizing. But I feel a little like a zombie afterwards. And for a girl who is always complaining that there’s never enough time, well, I don’t really need another way to waste it now, do I?
But I can’t help it! It’s like a global sandbox, a way to play with millions of people.
Oh, gotta go…. just got 5 more friend requests!

I love your blog. It reads just like you talk, which I have always adored. And it makes me want to talk like you. Anyway, YES, the bottomless pit of web presence. I did the Facebook deed finally. I’m also on another network I fell into called the Jazz Network or something, and now today I found another one called last.fm, which made me completely re-write my bio. Bottomless.
