The Confident Singer…continued
Okay, I'm still exploring this idea to start a website/blog that would help singers market themselves. The idea is exploding into monstrous proportions in my mind.
How cool would it be to offer:
- interviews and panel discussions with venue owners, booking agents, and media.
- technical help with sound systems, video production and recording studios.
- social networking geniuses who can talk about how to get the most out of MySpace, Facebook, and such.
- pr and media experts
- internet Marketing experts
Then, there's the idea for an adult singer's camp. A four day extravaganza where singers come to get master classes on everything from marketing and pr to image consulting to performance skills… everything but vocal technique. THAT would be so cool!
But when I go online and look to see if anyone is doing anything like this, I find nothing! Nothing of substance. Go ahead! You try it. Enter "singer+marketing" in Google and see what you get. Or "vocalist+marketing," which had even more pitiful results. Or even "singer+promotion."
So, this leads me to believe that either there is no market for this kind of idea. OR no one has been nuts enough to try it.
Though I did receive a "thumbs-up" from my friend and fabulous singer, Shea Breaux Wells.
My plan is to start with a survey and get it out to as many singers as I can and see what they have to say. I'll let you know as soon as it's up.
