OK - so I am first reading this - 2 months later. I will not comment on the loss of ties to your California friends. Suffice it to say that the ties are still there; they have just altered. I can speak only from my own experience of moving cross-country to a place where I knew 3 people.

22 years ago I moved from my home town, New York City, to San Francisco. It would have been easier moving to Paris - the energy in SF is so foreign compared to that of NY. More than that - I found that folks in NYC are actually friendlier faster. They're nicer here but harder to get to know. That said, it took me 5 years to build a community of friends I could count on. It took me 5 years before I actually felt like San Francisco was home. I missed my home town and my friends - my bestest friends - for a long time. Sometimes I still do.

Does that make you feel any better? Maybe.

Kisses

It wasn't meant to twist a knife. It was really more of an observation. Hey, as I said, I haven't done my part in staying in touch either.

But you, by the way, are always good about staying connected. And I thank you for that.

Hope all is well in California!

Hi Nancy,

Gee, what a way to make your West Coast friends feel guilty for not keeping in touch! Twist that knife...

:-D

Good luck with your "debut" (which is taking place right about now, based on current Pacific Time)!

Not too distantly,
